How do I plant yacón pears?

To plant ground pears (yacón) in your garden, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Ground pears prefer light, loose soil rich in organic matter. We recommend planting them in spring, when all risk of frost has passed.

To plant in the ground, make a hole deep enough to accommodate the plant. Place the pear of soil in the hole, taking care to spread the roots evenly. Then cover with soil, packing lightly. It is advisable to space the plants about 50 cm apart.

If you want to transplant plants already in pots, make sure you space them out in the same way and keep the roots well moist. Water regularly without drowning the plants. Ground pears need regular but moderate watering.

By following these tips, you'll be able to enjoy delicious, sweet-tasting ground pears that are ideal for both health and cooking.
