Quinoa
How to sow quinoa successfully outdoors?
To grow quinoa naturally outdoors, it's important to choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Sowing is generally done in spring, as soon as all risk of frost has passed. Before sowing, it is advisable to weed and aerate the soil by lightly spading it.
To sow quinoa seeds, make furrows about 30 cm apart and place the seeds about 1 cm apart. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and press down gently. Be sure to water regularly without overwatering, as quinoa is a plant that doesn't like stagnant moisture.
Once the plants reach a few centimetres in height, thin them out, leaving a space of around 20 to 30 cm between each plant. Keep an eye out for pest attacks and prefer natural methods to keep them at bay. Harvest the seeds when the spikes start to turn brown, then leave to dry before storing in a cool, dry place.
