How to sow crocus (saffron) successfully outdoors?
To sow crocuses (saffron) outdoors, it's best to do so in autumn, just before the first frosts. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Prepare the soil by weeding and working it deeply to aerate it.
Place the crocus bulbs about 5-10 cm apart and bury them 7-10 cm deep. Make sure the tips of the bulbs face upwards. Water lightly after planting to encourage rooting.
Crocuses are hardy plants that do not require fertiliser. Make sure they receive enough sun to encourage abundant flowering. Be on the lookout for diseases such as bulb rot or powdery mildew and act quickly if symptoms appear.
